So this was the view from my front door last night. Some serious stunt driving skills had to be employed in order to get to North London for Rizzo’s birthday bash.

Thankfully, a great night was had with the girls including Miss Sarah. We all made it there and back in one piece. Happy Birthday Rizzo!

OH YEAH - I. AM. HAWT… -___-
BUT - today, I am also all kinds of happy! The reason? I’ll tell you. Last night, (much to the amusement of my date Miss Kara) I spent the best part of 2.5 hours ‘singing’ along (Read: SCREECHING) at the top of my lungs in Brixton Academy, witnessing the musical return of my ALL TIME favourite artist; D’Angelo.
Anyone who really knows me, knows I’m a die hard D fan. If he’s recorded it - then I have it, but I think deep down even I (and probably everyone else) was a little unsure as to whether he could really ‘bring it’ this time around. 10 years on hiatus? I mean, all we had seen or heard in recent years was the ‘unfortunate’ run in with the New York vice cops and ‘that’ mug shot. Y’know, the one which looked like he’d eaten ODB with a side o’ chitlins covered in mac’n’cheese. … Oh - the HEART BREAK! *sniff*
WELL… all doubts were well and truly squashed last night. D is back on form. The gig was phenomenal, his voice - as good as ever, the band on point, even the obligatory D’Angelo ‘wife beater’ is back in full effect. Yes - he’s clearly been hitting the gym and laying off the chicken grease. HALLELUJAH!
Right now, my Voodoo album is on full blast. 12 years later, this album is true genius at work. It never gets old.
If sneak peeks of new songs played last night (or his featured track on Ronson’s Record Collection)are anything to go by, ‘James River’ will be another landmark album. The anticipation is killing me! Let’s hope the wait isn’t too long.
